This will only feature applications that require Root permission on your device. If you haven't "Rooted" it yet, then look at the applications below and you can see what you're missing.
Have you ever come across an app you really wanted, but the Market indicated it wasn't compatible with your device? Sometimes, that's not entirely true. The app may not be available due to a slight compatibility bug, but one you are willing to overlook, or due to a license agreement with a particular manufacturer, and so on. CloudOn for example, is available for the Nexus 7 device, but not my Acer a110. With this program, you can get around those limitations. While it is a bit convoluted, if you really want those apps, this is the tool to help you get them. You install this app, tell it what device you want to emulate, sign back into the Google Market, download the app sign out and restore your original information. Problem solved. This is a non-market app, that you will need to get from here Images provided by: Created: 17 Feb 2013 21:12 |
When you connect your Android to a PC, you get the choice to mount the SD card(s) or not. However, if you mount them to the computer, they are no longer accessible to the Android, until you once again disconnect. With this utility you can access them simultaneously on the device and PC! If nothing else, then this saves having to reload apps and icons. It's a must have for every experienced Android user. Images provided by: Created: 27 Aug 2011 07:11 |

If you've Rooted your phone or reflashed it and aren't sure if Root access is still available, this utility is a fast way to check. It of course requires SuperUser and BusyBox in order to work. Images provided by: Created: 15 Aug 2011 04:24 |
If you're like me, you've downloaded, tried and uninstalled a lot of apps. That leaves a lot of junk files behind. Programs like this will help you find and hopefully delete and that are no longer needed. Images provided by: Created: 03 Sep 2011 17:39 |
Measure the read and write speeds of the SD card(s) in your Android device. This is very handy when used with SD-Booster. You can determine what difference each cache size adjustment makes. Images provided by: Created: 26 Aug 2011 08:11 |
The default cache for your device is too small to be effective. By increasing it to between 1MB and 2MB, you can see significant performance increases. My phone originally had a cache well under 100KB. By testing different cache sizes with this tool and SD Tools to measure read and write speeds, I was able to see a significant performance increase. My average SD card speed was between 6 and 8MB/s before using this tool, but now it hits as high as 11 and 12MB/s. Images provided by: Created: 26 Aug 2011 07:50 |
Like BusyBox, this application is required both to Root your phone, and after it has been Rooted. Other applications use it to gain administrative access to your device, which is necessary for some advanced applications like firewalls and advanced backup software. If you have a high speed SD card, you can improve the performance of your Android device by adding a swap file to the card. The default size of 200MB works quite effectively. Images provided by: Created: 26 Aug 2011 07:52 |
