Category: Charlie Chan
Release Date: 1929
Length: 91

Details:

This is the earliest surviving Charlie Chan film, if you can even call it that. Charlie only appears in the last 10 minutes of the movie. Racism was still rampant during this period however, so it's not surprising that they minimized Charlie's role in the film. Interestingly, E.L. Park was the last person of Asian descent to ever play the part of Charlie Chan. It wasn't until the Swedish actor Warner Oland was cast in the title role that Charlie Chan was to return to film and meet with further success.
