Heathcliff & Dingbat

Premiered In: 1981 Status: Wish-List
1 Seasons, 30 Minute Episodes

Heathcliff is cartoon about an orange alley cat and his misadventures with his gang of strays. He steals fish from the local market, beats up the local bulldog and gets into trouble a lot. Unlike most cartoons, the hero of this story is not actually a good guy. I think I've always preferred him over Garfield.

Dingbat was a cartoon series that was paired with Heathcliff, in order to fill a full half-hour show.

Heathcliff & Marmaduke

Premiered In: 1981 Status: Wish-List
1 Seasons, 30 Minute Episodes

By the second season of Heathcliff, the network decided that Heathcliff needed a new series to run alongside the adventures of the orange alley cat. So, they chose Marmaduke, which was probably a good move, because to this day, Marmaduke is a well known comic strip, TV and cartoon character.

Heathcliff & The Catillac Cats

Premiered In: 1984 Status: Ended
2 Seasons, 30 Minute Episodes

Two years after the first run, Heathcliff had a strong enough following to be featured in his own series, without a supporting cartoon series. The resulting show ran for only two years, but also featured a single movie release.

Heathcliff: The Movie

Released In: 1985, 73 Minutes

This was the end of Heathcliff's run and while this show claims to be a movie, it's actually a series of short clips that were more suitable for the TV series, pasted together as the adventures of Heathcliff told by himself, to his unwilling audience of a mouse and his nephews. I suspect the series was pulled from television before the producers were able to air all of the episodes they had created. So, in order to regain some of their lost profit, they created the extra scenes of Heathcliff and his nephews in order to paste the episodes together for this "movie" release.
